Essays Change The World

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it’s stupid.” —Albert Einstein

Essays are a tool that can be used to strengthen knowledge and understanding among ourselves, and with that understanding, help us interact with an ever-changing world.

The First of Many

Ah, essays, everyone’s favorite school assignment. How many of you have sat down to write an essay for school, and the act was grueling and downright terrible? Every word feels like dragging a ball and chain because we all have to stick to the same formula, and nobody really cares about the topic but rather the grade. We’ve all been there. But what if I told you essays are the key to obtaining and memorizing knowledge? What if essays could actually be fun? We all know the saying that knowledge is power. But what constitutes knowledge? Memorizing flashcards and terms only to forget them after a test? Knowing basic concepts but being unable to describe them simply? I know, I know, I’m asking you a lot of questions. You’re probably asking, who reads essays anyway?

Some of the most fundamental ideas came from essays, a prime example stretching all the way back to 1787 when Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison wrote a collection of 85 essays that are famously known as the Federalist Papers. They played a crucial role in providing the most authoritative explanation of the U.S. Constitution's original purpose and constitutional understanding among citizens. But we no longer live in an age where essays are needed. You can click on a YouTube video and get all the information you’d need, but…will you remember it?

Essays are a tool that can be used to strengthen knowledge and understanding amongst ourselves, and with that understanding, helps us interact with an ever-changing world. The act of writing an essay improves cognitive function by forcing the brain to think, leading to an increase in critical thinking skills and an ability to communicate things in your own unique voice. All while engraining knowledge deep into your brain and improving your communication skills.

So here I am, writing essays for fun and publishing them for the world to see. My essays will be a collection of science, philosophy, sociology, writing, or whatever the heck I want! I hope my essays will inspire you to write your own, and thank you for reading along.
